Subject : Celebration of Vigilance Awareness week
Dear Sir/Madam,
The Central Board of Secondary Education has decided to observe “VIGILANCE AWARENESS WEEK” from 1st November, 2004 to 6th November, 2004, in pursuance of the directions issued by the Central Vigilance Commission vide their letter No.004/VGL/47 dated 16th Aug., 2004. The significance of Vigilance Awareness Week is that it is celebrated in the memory of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel who had been a major influence in establishing the administrative structure in India.
The basic aim of observance of “VIGILANCE AWARENESS WEEK” is to bring to the notice of the people at large as how corruption is eroding the basic values in the country and how to eradicate it. It may also be brought to your notice that the Central Vigilance Commission has desired that the focus of observing the Vigilance Awareness Week needs to be oriented towards “education of customers/clients and the users of the services”. The Central Vigilance Commission has desired that the schools may organize competitive lectures/debates on this goal at the students’ level in the schools and may award prizes to the best participants during the aforesaid week. You may make your contribution in this way which will go a long way in creating a clean environment as a whole. It is a well established fact that corruption is anti-national, anti-poor and anti-economic development. I hope you will agree that awareness is the first step towards action. The observance of “VIGILANCE AWARENESS WEEK” will help in catalyzing action to fight corruption.
Action taken report on the aforesaid lines may be reported to the undersigned.
Yours faithfully,
( G. BALASUBRAMANIAN )
CHIEF VIGILANCE OFFICER
