The NCF recommendations have yet another dimension in the form of changes to be made in the examination system emphasizing a shift from testing rote learning to testing higher order thinking skills. Consequently, a change in the design of sample question papers as well as the typology of questions have been decided upon. The exercise of development of sample question papers in various subjects is in progress. The actual question papers in different subjects are likely to be made available to schools by end of July,2007. The revised design in the subject of Mathematics for class X as well as class XII question paper includes Very short answer supply type questions carrying one mark each for the first time.
